Riding the TAT with Luis Sanchez

The Trans America Trail or TAT is a roughly 5,000-mile cross continent vehicular route, intended to be a way to cross the United States using a minimum of paved roads for leisure, traveled by dual-sport motorcycles, off-road vehicle, or touring bicycle.

Luis is a dear friend, customer and and very accomplished motorcyclist. He left from Santa Fe with a loaded down KLR and headed for Colorado to begin in that section of the TAT near Silverton. Snow made some parts impassable but he was able to ride Hurricane, California, and Ophir pass. He went on to Utah, Nevada, California, and ending in Port Orford, Oregon.

He kept his friends appraised of his daily progress using pictures and group texts. The ride was difficult and exhilarating. His original riding buddy was not able to complete the ride so he went solo for more than half the trip meeting up with some people along the way. All pictures are courtesy of Luis and should not be used without his permission.
