Arroyo Seco Raceway in Deming New Mexico put on their annual “All Girls Track Day” August 8th. Frances and Adah – the only female members of Kraut Racing – took this seriously and left the men behind.
Women can go do a track day and help each other to accomplish tasks that we sometimes depend on our male friends/family members.
Going to an out of town track day is no light feat. There is the truck ,the trailer, the bikes inside strapped to withstand turns. One must have the ability to get them out of the trailer and load them back in. There are pit stands, a stand to roll your bike into when coming in from a session so that you can get off the tall track bike that does not have a kick stand, There are tire warmers, tire pressure gauge, electrical cords, containers of fuel, gear, and tables. Of course we took a mister to withstand the 102 degree heat at the track that day.
There were about 10 women that showed up. We had two flags, green and red – OPEN TRACK ALL DAY! Roger Heemsbergen and his wife Michelle run the track and Roger is always available to take you through a corner to improve speed and advise on suspension and just about anything related to riding on the track.
