This year, Kraut Racing’s two principals – Marc and Franny – did not race but acted as support to the team due to needing to focus on the new facility and expansion of the business. We will be back in force for the 2017 race year. At the SMRI award banquet Lance Echols on his Kawasaki ZX6R placed 6th in ULGP, 2nd in Expert Middleweight Superbike, and 3rd in Modern Vintage this year. We are very proud to sponsor him. Nicole Hertzler, our part and service advisor, showed her support to the club by corner working. She will also be racing next year with Kraut Racing.
At the annual awards banquet, OCD Custom Cycles & Auto Repair received a certificate for sponsoring the Formual Femme Amateur Class and we were also commended for supporting women racers. Marc gave Gunar Liepines, who was 85 years old this year, a lifetime achievement award for his dedication to auto engineering. Jaime Smith and Ylonda Viola produced a movie about his life featuring a custom race car that Gunar had built over a span of many years and finally got to take it on the track this year after an SMRI track day. The short was played while we all had dinner. Kraut Racing will be back at it for the 2017 season and we will keep you posted on our events.
